What’s In Store for 2020?

What’s In Store for the 2020 Saturday Program?

We are experimenting and “learning the ropes,” attempting to create an even more successful set of Saturday activities.  We  have varied the number of bands and for the 2020 program we are we limiting the number of bands even more by focusing on one band with a following in the mid west and other states, which still has a focus on fiddling.

While the program may still be in the planning stage, we can say the band will be The Dennis Stroughmatt  & The Honky-Tonk Circus.   They do a variety of shows including western swing, country, French Creole, Cajun  and tributes to several famous country singers.  For more information see https://www.last.fm/music/Dennis+Stroughmatt/+wiki.  His show on Fiddle Fest 2020, October 24, will be one that fits into the general interests of old time fiddling, country and western swing.  Mark that date on your calendar!

Bio for Dennis Stroughmatt

Dennis Stroughmatt, born and raised in southeastern Illinois, is an authority on French Creole music and culture of “Upper Louisiana,” aka Illinois, Missouri, and Indiana, which came to the United States as part of the Louisiana Purchase.  Click on the link in the heading just above for an extensive section on the qualifications of Dennis.

….fast forward to the present….Dennis is still enjoying French Creole and Cajun fiddling…but the time to “swing it” is now and his focus on Honky Tonk and Western Swing has never been sharper.  Ready to put his study with Wade Ray, Hadley J. Castille, and Buddy Spicher into play….Dennis Stroughmatt, The Honky Tonk Fiddler, is here!

Also a strong vocalist in the Ray Price and Tony Booth style, Dennis is ready to hear from you………..
