Mark Stoffel, 1991 Grand Champion at the 2018 Franklin, IL Bluegrass Festival

The IOTFA Vice-President, Tom Rezinas, attended the Frankfort, IL bluegrass festival in 2018 and discovered that our 1991 Grand Champion, Mark Stoffel, was there playing in  one of the bands.  The two photos below were taken there and Tom happened to be wearing our T-shirt with the list of Grand Champions printed on the back.  That is a fun and an enjoyable sequence of photos!

The 2020 Frankfort,I IL Bluegrass Festival

The dates are Saturday & Sunday, July 11 & 12 and this year another IOTFA Grand Champion, Georgia Rae Mussared, will be performing with the Georgia Rae Family Band.

The Georgia Rae Family Band

Georgia Rae Family Band

The following  description of the Georgia Rae Family Band was taken from the 2020 Franklin, IL Bluegrass Festival web site.

”Georgia Rae Family Band has always pushed the envelope of traditional music. Their progressive sound inspired by a mix of Americana, contemporary folk and roots, and a little jazzy swing, all flavored with family harmony and youthful energy. Their original songs are clever and catchy. Fiddle champion Georgia Rae, lead singer/uke Kelly Jo, Quin on mandolin and banjo are joined by a solid driving rhythm “punk rockin’ momma” on guitar and Joe Burie on bass.”
